Monday Mobile Moments

Phil’s favourite band ever was Free, Paul Rogers, Andy Fraser (his hero and sadly died last year) Simon Kirk (still drumming with Bad Company) and Paul Kossoff (also dead a long time ago).Last night Phil and I went into Newcastle to the City Hall to see Paul Rogers who is currently touring the country with the Deborah Bonham band, (she being the sister of the late John Bonham of Led Zeppelin fame). Mr. Rogers is singing as many ‘Free’ songs as he can fit in 1 & 1/2 hrs.  Ms.Bonham and her band were the support act so we didn’t bother with all that as Paul Rogers was the main event and all we wanted to see. You are not allowed cameras or to film with mobiles in the City Hall, and I wouldn’t anyway as I find it disrespectful to the artists and am always annoyed when I see other people doing it as it catches your attention when you want to concentrate on the gig.  Needless to say people were doing it, and bouncers came round and told them to stop.  Apart from that it was a great show, Mr.Rogers was on fine form, the audience were with him all the way, the atmosphere was on gas mark 10, we all sang along and waved our hands about and had a grand time.   Of course, there’s nothing to stop one from taking pictures before the gig so me and the iPhone got busy 🙂

and on the very last encore I whipped out my phone and took 2 shots of the man himself.  Not bad for 67yrs old, I loved his shirt! And he’s still got that fabulous voice.

  3. Looks like a fun time! It’s true that when you are recording an artist playing live, you actually miss out on the moment! You wouldn’t think it would make a difference, but it does.
