This week I’m doing a foody special π
Firstly, we had our grandkids stay over on Saturday night so we all had sausage, chips, fried eggs and beans for dinner, healthiness-0 yumminess 1 Β
Luckily for the kids their Mum feeds them fresh fruit and veg so as grandparents we get to do the bad stuff with them π
I came to the conclusion a couple of weeks ago that I need to eat more healthily, the normal diet for people up north is not the best and whilst Phil stays skinny eating pies, chips, mash, etc, it doesn’t work that way for me. So I am currently having salads for lunches and dinner, and feeling better for it. Β This will not do for my hubby who has a pathological detestation of all things salad-y, so on evenings when we are having dinner together he is doing his own thing. Β Tonight his menu consisted of steak and kidney pie, which he got from the canteen at work, mashed potato and peas. Β The pie looked pretty awful to me but Phil decided to pep it up with tomato puree, bovril Worcestershire sauce and gravy..
I couldn’t believe how awful it appeared!
Eventually all that got mixed together, a fair amount of salt was added to the spuds
and this was the end result
It annoys me intensely that he can eat this stuff and stay so slim, have a normal heart rate and low blood pressure, when really he should be 20 stone and in hospital. Β It isn’t fair at all that I have loads of salads and look like the Michelin ZX man! Sigh. Β π
Life is terrible unfair, so unfair. Sigh.

What is it about people who eat anything and stay so slim? Never worked for me. Maybe that’s the added red wine though… π
Messing with that pie looked bad, and just wrong. But you are north of The Wash, where anything goes. (Into the mouth! π )
Best wishes, Pete.

I have severely cut down on my wine intake too! Also anything goes for sure up here, (except salad π) but have to say there are some great restaurants so all is not lost.

What are the little red things? They do not look appetizing!

Ah, much better than what I thought (which was either oddly colored Cheetos or some small creature’s poop).

Poop Pie, not a great thought π

Not at all! Though I suppose if you found some poop looking candy, it would make a great topping for a cake or cupcake for a boy of a certain age. They’d probably love how gross it seems!

Now you have me wanting pie and peas, just maybe not that one! The fry up looks the business though, I know what I’m having for breakfast now π

Sean is like that. He has no time or patience for salads. He doesn’t want to give away precious real estate on his plate. But he’s forever slim (it helps that he’s 6’6). You can imagine how short and round I appear beside him π¦

If we are talking Shepherd’s Pie, then that is serious business. The one food I would wait a few hours for preparation in order to eat.
