Well it’s done. Started back in January with the initial design drawn on the back of some wallpaper, then covered first in plastic sheeting, and then fibreglass mesh,
I split it into 3 otherwise it would have been too big at the end to carry from the shed to the conservatory where the table it’s covering is.
Part 1
Part 2
and Part 3
It’s taken forever, so it seems, and there’s been times when I got stuck with how to do a bit so had a break til I figured it out. As always, I bit off more than I could chew ๐ย I really should do something I’m actually capable of next time! Anyway here it is affixed to our old Ikea stereo cabinet (the top of which was such a mess it needed something!) and it’s better than what was there.
You can embiggen the last shot to get the bigger version but don’t look too close, there are so many more flaws in it than I’m happy with. Still, lessons learnt (hopefully) and maybe my next one will go swimmingly and turn out to be something I’m happy with!
The music bit is the first bar of the guitar bass line for Pump It Up by Elvis Costello and is one of Phil’s favourites to play, and the cat is, of course, representative of Skye.
Wow that is so cool!Love it…like that the design is not ‘mosaicy’ if you know what I mean….seriously classy job.

I’m liking what I’m seeing. Great job. Must admit I’m kinda fanning out here.

Not only an indication of the artist inside, but also of your patience. Something I sadly lack.
Nice work indeed, FR. Flaws? Who cares? You should be proud. And the connection with Elvis Costello is a double delight. ๐
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks Pete, it’s a great bass line and the album it came from, This Years Girl is one of his best I think.

It’s wonderful. You’re so talented. I’m glad you explained what the music is, though. I didn’t recognise it when I heard it in my head.

Seriously…is there anything you canโt do?? And you dare say that you should do something you are capable of?? Are you kidding me here?!?! ๐๐๐๐๐ This looks awesome! I could not even get close to making something like this! Really well done ๐

Impressive stuff, and any flaws will only be visible to you, so don’t mention then. Very cool design ๐

What a fun, fun project! I love the cat and the little note – before I thought of Skye – and thought it the perfect touch.

OMG, Fraggle, it’s a masterpiece. I love it. Combination of cat and music — how could I not? When I think about all the curves in these shapes, I know it had to be hugely difficult. Kudos! Hugs.
