Last weekend Sophie and I were supposed to go and shoot the rhododendrons (of which there are gazillions ) blooming at Cragside, but because I was not in a good state of health, I had to cancel. So although it was the end of their season we went anyway, and there was still a load of Rhodeys for us to photograph. On walking around the estate, we came across this quite amazing carving at the end of a huge fallen tree trunk.
Day 174

Oh my goodness! What a great surprise. Do you know anything more about it?

Is this actually carved into the trunk? It’s really beautiful – could be scary to come upon it unexpectedly!

Yes it is, and it was! π

Applesauce! That really is extraordinary, Fraggle. I’d love to see it in color. That would make a fabulous wall hanging. It’s like a cross between the Green Man and the dog-dragon thing from Never Ending Story. π

The colour version will turn up on the Universe blog at some point. Cheers Teagan.
