Well it’s been a while, and nothing much had changed, but as of midnight tonight the North East of England has gone into ‘local lockdown’. The Corvid cases have risen too far, and the hospitals are beginning to fill up.
Here are our restrictions…
- Meeting people outside your household or support bubble in private homes and gardens is banned (exemptions include attending a birth, visiting someone who is dying, work, education, registered childcare, emergency or care, moving house or child contact arrangements).
- People are advised not to socialise outside their household in public venues.
- Residents should only use public transport for essential purposes, such as going to school or work.
- Pubs, restaurants, cafes to be table service only and all leisure venues must shut at 22:00.
- Holidays are permitted but only with members of your household or support bubble.
- People should not spectate at any grassroots sport or play sport in the restricted areas.
- Schools, colleges and universities remain open.
- Travel outside the area is permitted but visiting another home or garden is not.
- Care homes are closed to non-essential visitors except in end-of-life circumstances.
- There are no local changes to funerals, weddings or religious ceremonies.
So, we can go to work and meet our several work colleagues, but can’t meet our family members if they live in different houses.
We are advised not to socialise in public venues but pubs etc can stay open until 10pm so you can have a drink with all your mates. (Must be because the virus stays out of pubs until 10pm when it rushes in and infects everyone).
Don’t play sports, but if people are, don’t watch them.
You can go on holiday anywhere and do what you want when you get there, but if you travel outside the area you can’t visit anyone’s home and garden when you get there.
Is it any wonder that people up here are rebelling?
Clusterfuck is the word that springs to mind. Shortly followed by bullshit.

You need a photo of a mushroom to look at after dealing with all that nonsense. Just as well you’ve got one. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning these days I wonder if I’m in an alternate reality. That things aren’t real anymore, and in a way I’m still sleeping. I’m not though. It honestly at times scares me, and I wonder even more often if things will ever return to normal. Things like this are just totally bonkers, and it makes me wonder if the people in charge even know what they are doing? Or if they just make it up as they go along. Whatever it is…it’s as you say: a total clusterfuck. All we can do is keep hanging in there and try to stay positive and keep up hope….it’s all we can do really.

I so feel the same way. I try to compartmentalise things, and then try to focus on the positive compartments, but sometimes the negative ones bash you over the head! I’m going out to take photos tomorrow and leave it all behind!

Very good! I hope you will have a good time. I have a long work day ahead of me today (almost 10 hours) but luckily after that it’s weekend, which is good😊 Enjoy!😊

10 hours is too long! Yay for the weekend!

I read a tweet earlier sympathising with bar staff having to get people out at 10pm!…the rules everywhere seem arbritrary…everyone seems to be making things up as they go along. Hang in there..will have something in the post for you to read in the next few weeks…but I’ll disinfect it well! X

It’s a fekkin’ circus isn’t it. Though maybe not as I quite like circuses. I’m going back to clusterfuck.
Excited re disinfected tome!

Our health minister Matt Hancock is putting it out there, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Boris aka Dominic Cummings had a hand in it. It’s a right shambles Kim. We’re in a bad a state as you all are.

I’d be on the mushrooms by now if I had to deal with all those barmy nonsensical regulations. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Cummings household has a 24 hours guard around the house to prevent a lynching. I doubt he would be brave enough to travel North again for a long long time.
Stay safe and don’t let the bastards get you down 🙂

It is hard to make sense of those rules. I suspect they come from different departments who don’t discuss them to ensure that they’re coherent. I’ve had the misfortune to read certain bits of government guidance that probably made sense when they were first created, but they’re updated every now and again rather than rewritten from scratch. One document sends you to another and, if that document has also been updated, it doesn’t always make the point the first document thought it did, so you end up not knowing what you should do. Happy days.

After six months of knowing that a second wave was coming, you’d think there would be something better in place that different instructions every day….
