Film Friday

Sad I can’t use the Rolleiflext until I can get it into Newcastle for a fix, but I still have the polaroid SX-70 to play with.  Hit and miss on focus as always but it never seems to matter.  I will call them soft~focus rather than blurry as  f*@k 🙂

A couple of weeks ago I took the Rollei off to Little Haven beach to see if I could overcome the loading problems I’d had with the camera in my previous outing. Luckily all seems well now and I got 10 out of 12 decent shots, so up to 83% postable shots! 🙂

Due to the weather I haven’t been out with it since, so will split this into a 2 parter.

It was a lovely sunny late afternoon when I got there, nice blue sky, and I took a few detail shots on the way to the beach

Herd Groyne is always photogenic especially contrasted against the blue sky

Lots of seaweed covered rocks at this end of the beach

the sun was going down as I walked back from the beach to see the Weebles, I’ll post those next time,

Still waiting for my roll of film from the rollei to come back, patience is not my thing really! :/ So back to the SX70 for today though really there isn’t enough light with the ongoing cloud and rainy stuff. Supposed to be better tomorrow so hopefully out with the Fuji and my pal Sophie.

Anyway here’s a couple from the shed and the garden

and Happy Celebrations to my Canadian pals, it’s 150 years since they got a country!

Only one of my bedroom roses today.  That was the end of one pack of films and the new pack I’ve put in is faulty :/  that happens sometimes and it’s really annoying. I wanted to take a picture of my first ever home made loaf of bread but 3 shots in I realised it wasn’t going to happen. Never mind it tastes lush and we had beans on toast for tea. I’ve run out of polaroid film for the minute but my Rollei shots will be with me next time, am excited to see how they turned out.

Disappointed the electrician didn’t turn up today to switch the shed on, apparently he’s off sick. Hmm, Friday is never a believable day to be off sick!

Anyway here’s my roses

a bit blurry but it never seems to matter on a polaroid.

Today is Postcard from the Shed. It’s another busy day here in Fraggleland, Phil is putting me more shelves up in between applying stain varnish to the window frames, door and overhangy thing.  I’m busy packing up my room indoors and storing it in the spare room, so Phil can take over my room and then I can move into his. 🙂  Never knew there was so much to do to have a shed! 🙂

(Good) Friday Film SHots

SO Easter weekend is here and of course the weather is pants. Forecast said mainly dry, cloudy with bright spells, reality was rain, cloud, more rain then a cloudy dry spell.   And it’s ruddy cold outside. Phil is beavering away on the shed, and I’ve been defrosting the fridge’s ice monster and doing housework. Yipee.   Not really inspired to shoot but did a couple of still lifes, to remind me of the sea and beach, which is where I’d like to be on a sunny day!

Happy Easter peeps!

Friday Film Shots.

Ugh I am struggling with the Lightroom-smugmug interface today, so have taken a break to shoot some polaroids, just around the house, back to the struggle after :/.

My herby garden is coming along nicely, I nearly killed the coriander but rescued it just in time,

My mums plant is firing up some very red shoots, another back from the dead plant 🙂

and I replaced the chrysanthemums from the other week with some gorgeous pink lily’s, must shoot them in colour 🙂

and finally, now for some ‘proper’ Friday film shots to come. I really like shooting film, and I’ve been dicking about with a holga and the lubitel, but the lubitel is not flexible enough for me, it only goes up to 1/500 shutter speed and the focusing screen is dire, especially for someone who needs varyfocals. So here is a proper jobby.

I’ve already started practicing, and am using a light meter to (hopefully) get the settings right, but it’s going to be a steep learning curve.  The history of the camera is quite fascinating and I’ll probably do a Fraggle Report about it at some point over on Across The Universe .  Anyways, back to the struggle..

Friday Film Shots

Today started off grim but this afternoon the wind blew all the clouds away and left behind some blue skies and sunshine.  I’ve been chasing patches of light around the house with my polaroids and still taking shots of the cherry blossom tree before all t he petals are gone.

A gorgeous sunny spring day today, played with my SX70, my Jobpro 600 and finally got round to shooting with the Lubitel 166B TLR, not sure what I’m doing with it but will see when the roll is complete and I get it developed. It’s a devil to operate and I’ll do a report on it when I’ve got any pictures from it. Happy day today 🙂
